When the bell rings at 12:10, most students choose to stay near campus, but some venture further. We interviewed a few of these adventurous students to get a closer scoop on some of our favorite duos’ favorite lunch spots.

On and off the field, you can always find the varsity girls’ soccer goalkeepers, Kylee Mitchell and Tatiana Zahajko, together. Tati is the driver for the pair, especially during lunch. Their go-to spot is usually Panda Express, where they both get chow mein and orange chicken. “Although we try to go whenever we are free, we only go about once a month,” Kylee says, especially because Tati says she is broke at the moment.

Samantha Pellham and Carys Wakefield are another group of our mingle munchers. Like many seniors, their favorite place to go to lunch is usually Safeway, where they tend to go as often as they can! Carys is the one who usually drives and Samantha is the one usually on aux. When they get there, they usually head straight for the hot section, with their go-to orders usually being chicken tenders for Carys and a chicken wrap for Samantha. “I swear Carys only gets one chicken nugget when we get to Safeway, just one!” says Samantha. 

One of many junior/senior duos are Gavin Leptich and Drake Doroin. They go out to lunch once every two weeks or “whenever I have money,” Gavin says, often heading to D’unik, a Filipino food market. They each get chicken adobo, then Gavin also gets beef stew, and Drake also gets beefsteak. Gavin drives each time, but that means he also has the aux to play country music.

Amina Berehnie and Naffie Darboeare a known duo to be seen at lunch. Their go-to spot is a local coffee shop, where they usually order a chai, green tea, or even a bagel. If not coffee that day, you can always catch them heading over to Amina’s house! While Amina’s the one who usually drives, you can often see them go out for lunch together quite often! 

And finally our last iconic junior/senior duo is upperclassman Cypress Jones and underclassman Esmerelda Fogg. They often go after class to get coffee, usually at the drink stand Sunshine, as they have the best coffee and the nicest workers. Cypress says she is going to be the driver 90% of the time as “I have control issues and don’t like other people having the aux.” Ezzie loves a good Italian soda, while Cypress sometimes opts in for an iced chai instead. And if they have them out, they love to get some of their massive handmade cake pops!
