An artist going by the name “Laufey” recently held a concert at Climate Pledge Arena on October 4th. Here’s a review of her new album, A Matter of Time, and the artist herself.

Laufey Lín Bing Jónsdóttir was born in April 1999, is a Chinese-Icelandic singer and songwriter known for her jazz-inspired pop music. Laufey began playing the piano at age four and the cello at eight. At age 15, Laufey performed as a cello soloist for the Island Symphony Orchestra.
In April of 2020, she released her debut single “Street by Street”, charting number one on Icelandic Radio. Since then, she has released her first EP, Typical of Me (2021), alongside the singles Let You Break My Heart Again (2021) and Love to Keep Me Warm (2021). Her sophomore record was Bewitched (2023), and finally, A Matter of Time (2025), her third studio album, was released this year.
A Matter of Time
Laufey’s new album shows vulnerability and a heap of emotion. The album focuses on topics such as friendship breakups, fear of love, and coming to terms with oneself.
Overall, the album is exceptional and distinct from the rest of her discography. The raw emotion throughout the entire album is very beautiful and is different from previous works. I also loved the fairytale theme going on amongst the tracks in this album. My personal favorite tracks on the album are “Too Little, Too Late,” “Sabotage,” and “Castle in Hollywood.” I recommend it to anyone interested in the genre, or who has ever heard of or listened to her past works!
